When your new dream home faces due west, you can take inspiration from the highest authorities. Sunsets, azure water and Katherine Elizabeth Designs.
Color played a big role in this lovely lake home that was built from scratch. The coral red of sunsets, the calming blue of the lake - all bring the outdoors inside. A breakfast nook nestles perfectly in a hexagonal space. Upstairs in that same unique shape, a peaked bead board ceiling and comfortable seating area float book lovers over the trees in the master suite.
Other advantages abound. All windows were recessed into the ceiling to maximize views. An elevator was built with future needs in mind. The kitchen is two-tone - built with soft white and rich cherry woods. A fabulous cherry curved outer island rims the great room, providing ample space for meals, parties and family gatherings. A compass created from different wood species greets guests at the entrance while natural hand-scraped rustic walnut floors stretch out their knotted planks on the first level.
Within the expansive great room, the team at Katherine Elizabeth Designs provided visual divisions of space through strong pillars and ceiling beams to keep a cozy feeling in the large space. They tackled everything from custom rugs and furniture to the overall flow of the rooms - even the planting beds in front of the windows. So as the sun sets, the kitchen bell rings, the family gathers.
Another lovely finish to a relaxing day.
