For those who move to a different part of the country, the tug of family and childhood memories can lure you back. In the case of a transplanted Arizona family, they wanted to stay connected with their Wisconsin roots. An expansive home was planned on the shores of a large lake to welcome all.
Stepping into the walnut and cherry entryway with its distinctive basket-weave design, guests are welcomed to comfort around every corner. A stone fireplace promises great evenings by the fire, while the panoramic windows showcase the sparkling lake outside. Ceilings are treated with the same regard as floors with beautifully finished natural wood planks and hand-hewn beams that distribute even more character in each room.
In the kitchen, a warm copper farm sink, white washed cabinetry and ropes grace the lighting fixtures and window treatments. Murano glass pendants hang over the butcher block island—clearly a gathering place for morning coffee and evening cocktails.
Taking the entire home from conception to completion was a joy for the team at Katherine Elizabeth Designs and even more so for the extended family. Whether near or far, they all really can come home after all these years.
The owner had always known she was in the right hands but knew it even more when she found her favorite cookbook gracing the shelves that Katherine Elizabeth Designs had put in as a final, finishing touch.
