Blue Skies Abode
Rooted in the calming tones of lake and sky, Blue Skies Abode is a full-scale luxury lake home designed for connection, restoration, and year-round living. What began as a vision for a modest cottage evolved into a thoughtfully layered retreat in Mukwonago, where every design decision supports a lifestyle centered on gathering, ease, and generational memory-making.
Spanning three levels and accommodating 16 bedrooms, this custom home was designed with both function and feeling in mind. The main level prioritizes seamless, first-floor living with a serene, lake-facing primary suite complete with a private office and fitness space—offering a quiet counterpoint to the home’s more social zones. Just beyond, a covered three-season room with a full outdoor kitchen extends the living experience outdoors, reinforcing the home’s connection to its natural surroundings.

Throughout the home, layered neutrals are complemented by soft blue undertones, sculptural lighting, and bespoke millwork—creating a sense of cohesion while allowing each space to serve a distinct purpose. Upper and lower-level bunk rooms invite extended stays, while the lower level was designed as a destination of its own, featuring a golf simulator, gaming areas, and direct walk-out access to the lake.
As a whole home design, Blue Skies Abode reflects KED Interiors’ approach to functional beauty—where layout, materiality, and lifestyle are considered in equal measure. The result is a tailored, high-end retreat that feels both expansive and deeply personal, designed to bring people together while still allowing space to unwind.
