Full-Service Whole-Home Interior Design
KED Interiors provides comprehensive, full-service interior design for custom new builds, renovations, and large-scale residential & commercial projects.
Our full-service work is an integrated design engagement, led holistically from concept through installation. Rather than selecting individual services, clients engage KED Interiors to design the home as a complete system, ensuring clarity, cohesion, and long-term liveability.
The individual elements involved in full-service interior design are intentionally interconnected and evolve together over the course of the project. This service is best suited for clients who want a cohesive home designed from the ground up, not room by room or à la carte.
FULL-SERVICE INTERIOR DESIGN ELEMENTS:
-
We begin with how your home will actually be lived in. Room proportions, traffic flow, sightlines and furniture placement are all considered together — laying the foundation for a home that functions as beautifully as it looks.
-
From flooring and tile to cabinetry, countertops and wall treatments, every surface is thoughtfully curated. We guide you through a cohesive palette of finishes that work in harmony across the whole home.
-
Lighting shapes how a room feels at every hour of the day. We design layered lighting schemes alongside architectural detailing that give your home its character and depth
-
We source and specify bespoke furnishings, built-in cabinetry and custom pieces designed to fit your space precisely — balancing proportion, comfort and craftsmanship at every scale.
-
Every product, finish and fixture is managed through our studio — ordered, tracked and coordinated so nothing is left to chance. You stay informed without having to manage the details yourself.
-
The final stage is where everything comes together. We oversee delivery, placement and styling to ensure the finished result matches the vision — down to the last detail.
The Process
1. DISCOVERY
Step one of our design process is to schedule a Discovery Meeting to learn about your project goals and lifestyle. This critical first meeting, allows us to fully understand your project so that we can provide you with a realistic design proposal that defines the scope of work and the related design investment.
2. DESIGN & REFINE
With a signed proposal of services, we'll take what we've learned about your project expectations, style, space constraints and budget, and in return deliver fresh, curated design options, space plans, finish and material choices, and renderings that will give you a clear vision of what your space can be.
3. DETAIL & DOCUMENT
Having approved the design concepts, space plan and finish choices, we move into design development. Here we document bespoke furnishings, material and cabinetry choices, and interior architecture drawings for final approval - alongside a detailed breakdown of furnishings.
4. COMPLETE & INSTALL
Every successful design involves hundreds of individual product and service decisions. Our team has the project management skills and trade software to communicate, coordinate, track and problem-solve every detail - handling all purchasing, expediting, delivery and final placement with ease.

The best time to hire an interior designer for a custom home is during the architectural planning phase, before layouts, finishes, or systems are finalized.
A whole-home interior designer helps guide decisions around space planning, sightlines, lighting, materials, and furnishings early in the process—often preventing costly revisions later. Designers who specialize in new construction work collaboratively with architects and builders to ensure the interiors function cohesively once the home is complete, not just look good on paper.
That said, it’s never too late to loop in a professional designer. Even if construction is already underway, a designer can help refine selections, resolve layout challenges, elevate lighting and millwork decisions, and bring cohesion to the overall vision.
For lake homes or second residences, early involvement is especially valuable due to space planning, storage needs, durability considerations, and seasonal use.
-
A full-service interior designer is involved in the planning and execution of a home from a structural and functional perspective, while a decorator focuses primarily on surface-level aesthetics.
Full-service interior design typically includes space planning, finish and material selection, lighting design, custom furnishings, procurement, and project coordination. This approach is most valuable for new construction, large renovations, and whole-home projects where cohesion and long-term livability matter.
Our Signature Spaces service is better suited for smaller updates where layouts and architectural elements are already established.

Yes — architects, builders, and interior designers serve different but complementary roles.
Architects focus on the structure and exterior form of a home, while builders manage construction. Interior designers focus on how the home functions and feels once it’s lived in: room proportions, furniture layouts, lighting layers, material transitions, and daily usability.
For custom homes and vacation or lake houses, interior designers often work alongside architects and builders to ensure that design decisions translate smoothly from plans to finished spaces.
-
Designing a home as a whole is generally more effective than approaching it room by room, especially for custom builds and renovations.
A whole-home approach considers flow between spaces, consistent scale, material continuity, and how rooms relate to one another. This leads to interiors that feel cohesive and complete rather than pieced together over time.
Room-by-room design can work for smaller updates.
-
Lake houses and vacation homes benefit from interior designers who specialize in whole-home planning and second residences.
These homes often require thoughtful storage solutions, durable materials, flexible furnishings, and layouts that work across seasons and varying guest use. Designers experienced with lake homes understand how to balance comfort, function, and longevity without overdesigning spaces that need to adapt.
-
Small projects typically consist of at least three full rooms. There may be elements in the room you are keeping such as flooring, but we want to be able to complete a full vision of interior design with both function and aesthetics. In other words, we would be addressing the majority of the house.
We offer our Signature Spaces design service for smaller spaces with no need for construction.
Let’s Collaborate!
We’d love to hear about your project. Share a few details with us, and our team will get back to you to explore how we can bring your vision to life.
