Celebrating 20 Years of KED Interiors

On a warm June evening in Barrington, our studio became something else entirely. Picture live music drifting through the space, crêpes sizzling on a vintage cart, sketch artists capturing smiles, a magician mingling with guests—and champagne, of course. We transformed our office into a Parisian spring fête to celebrate something close to our hearts: 20 years of KED Interiors.

The idea for a Paris-themed celebration came together the way our best ideas often do—around a dinner table. We were sharing stories about our favorite places to travel when Katie mentioned studying design in Paris years ago. That memory sparked a whole conversation about how much French design, culture, and creativity has shaped not only her early career, but also the soul of our firm. From there, the vision came to life.

We wanted the party to feel personal, joyful, and full of the energy that defines how we work as a team. More than just a celebration, it was a chance to thank the many clients, collaborators, and friends who’ve been part of our story—and to invite them into our space in a completely new way.

A Look Back—and a Look Ahead

What began as a one-woman design firm has grown into a full-service interior design studio working on homes across the Midwest and beyond. Over the past two decades, we've designed everything from ground-up new builds to meaningful room refreshes—and the best part is, we’ve done it alongside people we truly enjoy working with.

During the party, Katie welcomed guests with heartfelt thanks and shared how those early experiences in Paris still inform the way we think about design: with intention, beauty, and a sense of livable elegance.

The Party Highlights

We went all in on the details—naturally.

• A traditional crêperie cart serving up savory and sweet favorites

• Live music on both levels of our studio

• Sketch artists, a mime, and a magician, all mingling with guests

• A bubbly bar with fresh juice mixers and prosecco

• The best part: seeing so many of our clients, partners, and friends all together

The rooms were filled with laughter, storytelling, and more than a few “has it really been 20 years?” moments. It reminded us that what we do isn’t just about the spaces—it’s about the people.
