KED Interiors' Creative Journey at Cambria HQ: A Deeper Look into Design and Innovation

At KED Interiors, we’re always seeking opportunities to broaden our design horizons and deepen our understanding of the materials we work with. Our recent trip to Cambria’s headquarters was more than just a visit—it was an enriching experience that allowed us to immerse ourselves in the world of stone surfaces and their role in high-end interior design. Known for their innovative designs and exceptional craftsmanship, Cambria offers a wide range of quartz designs that are perfect for countertops, backsplashes, and other creative applications.

From the moment we arrived in Minnesota, the clarity and authenticity of the Cambria brand were palpable. Their dedication to quality, design, and consistency is woven into every aspect of their operation, from the showroom to the factory floor. But beyond the polished surfaces and sleek designs, it’s the purpose-driven culture at Cambria that stood out; we even got to ride in their branded SUV, “The Dragon Wagon.”  This trip was about more than just touring and educational opportunities. Our team had a blast at the Minnesota Twins game and enjoyed lunch at the Four Seasons, making it a memorable team building experience.

An Invitation to Innovate

KED Interiors was invited to this exclusive trip as part of a curated group of designers, and we were thrilled to be selected. Cambria values design leadership and innovation, and their commitment to supporting design professionals is evident in every interaction. This trip was really about building relationships and fostering a collaborative environment where creativity thrives.

We had the opportunity to engage with the company’s leadership, product teams, and marketing experts. We even had a sneak peek at the new design releases and got a complete tour of the proprietary factory; no pictures allowed! A highlight was seeing the shift in real time as homeowners move away from pure white aesthetics and start incorporating more moody, warm tones back into the home. On the factory floor, quartz slabs incorporated shades of blue, copper, warm grays and browns, alongside the traditional white designs.

From factory tours to in-depth design discussions, the trip served as a perfect reminder of the power of collaboration and how working with brands that align with our own values can spark new ideas and inspire creative solutions.

Creative Ways to Use Stone in Interior Design

One of the most inspiring aspects of our visit was seeing firsthand how stone can elevate design in innovative ways. Cambria offers a wide range of surfaces that go beyond the traditional use in kitchens and bathrooms. Designing with stone has endless possibilities, and the trip highlighted several creative applications that challenged us to think outside the box.

  • Statement Walls: From sleek, minimalist backsplashes to bold, dramatic feature walls, Cambria’s collection of surfaces can transform any room into a showpiece. We love the idea of using it in a shower; no grout, no tile, just a sleek wall of stone.

  • Custom Countertops and Islands: With various textures, finishes, and colors, stone can be used in creative ways for countertops, making each design unique and tailored to the client’s aesthetic.

  • Stone as Art: Cambria’s patterns and textures offer a rare opportunity to use stone as art—whether in furniture accents, fireplace surrounds, or sculptures, the possibilities are endless.

  • Color and Texture Variety: Cambria’s extensive selection of stone surfaces, from veined designs to solid hues, offers endless opportunities for designers to mix and match textures to complement any style.

At KED Interiors, we believe that true creativity thrives when it’s nurtured by partnerships with like-minded brands. Our time at Cambria HQ was a testament to how thoughtful collaboration and a shared commitment to quality and design can lead to endless possibilities for creativity. We’re excited to continue working with Cambria to bring even more inspired design to our clients, pushing the boundaries of what’s possible with stone.
